That $10,000 check goes to the Blount County – Oneonta Chamber of Commerce to pay for website updates and improvements and for revisions to the 17-minute video program used to promote the county for tourism and economic development. The money comes through Cahaba/Warrior/Coosa (CAWACO) Resource Conservation and Development Council. Shown (from left) are Kelley Cochran, chamber of commerce board president; Drayton Cosby, CAWACO publicity consultant; state Rep. Elwyn Thomas, who helps obtain funds for CAWACO; Charles Carr, chamber president; Amy Dobbs, chamber administrative assistant; Patti Pennington, CAWACO grant administrator; and Heidi Richards, CAWACO project coordinator. The group is assembled outside the Chamber’s new offices across Ala 75 from the courthouse. With three times the floor space of the former office, it includes the president’s larger office, larger foyer and display area, a sizable conference room, services and utility area, and space for Rep. Thomas’s new Blount County office. – Ron Gholson
